Showing up to Defcon (computer hacker's convention in Vegas) is a yearly routine. This is perfect because it seems to always fall on my birthday weekend and there's no place quite like Vegas (or Defcon for that matter) to spend it.
We stayed across the street from the convention at the Hard Rock Hotel and partied like rock stars-bad pun, sorry ;-) You really can't go wrong at the Hard Rock. There's plenty of booze, fake body parts, and loud music to go around. There's a kick-ass pool scene. Plus, it happens to be home to a sushi restaurant that we absolutely love called Nobu. Every Sunday night, there is an event at their pool called Rehab, a must-see! Aside from that, Dave took me to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. The filet mignon was the best we've ever had, and the service was excellent. Another killer eating spot is the Bellagio Hotel Buffet. This place puts other buffets to shame and is Bullock (Proffitt) approved! Defcon was a lot of fun! Even though I'm not a computer nut, I must say that I have always appreciated our friends that show up, and meeting interesting people. It toned down a lot compared to last year's convention, but still well worth the trip. On Sunday, we visited Dave's brother Dan. Dan has two kids-Austin and Skyela. Austin turned a whole 6 years old yesterday. They are a neat family and I enjoyed visiting them. In a nutshell, our Vegas trip was bitchen, and owe it to Dave for making it happen. Although unnecessary, he spoiled me and made an effort to make it special. My birthday couldn't have been any more perfect.Category: General()
