Those of you floating around in cyber space, that read my last article, are probably wondering what became of the great car disaster.
I decided to make a special trip to my hometown of Garden Grove, where these two guys-Jim and Dave, run a garage called (of course) Jim and Dave's Brake Shop. They are actually a full service garage, which I have been going to for years. They come off as a very honest and well-respected establishment in the community. I am an idiot for not going to them in the first place! I told them what was going on, and they found nothing more than a thermo-switch on the side of the fan motor that needed replacing. It's essentially a switch, controlled by the computer to turn the fan on and off. It cost $40 for the part and delivery, and $40 for labor. Saturn charged me the same $80 just to diagnose my car, which is completely absurd! Jim, Dave, and their staff are heroes and their knightly deed deserves recognition.
