There are a number spots that my fiance and I have hit up for grub that are awesome (playing "catch up" with my blogging)!
If you appreciate contemporary Japanese food, then check out Sai Sai, located beneath the Biltmore on 5th and Olive. Dave had treated me a couple times to a tasty Bento Box lunch. Another place that we love to go for lunch after the gym is Organic To Go. This is a small deli in the Gas Company Tower on the ground floor that serves quick, organic food at a reasonable price. We are infatuated with the California grilled vegetable sandwich and the tomato bisque soup! We also liked Pete's on Main and 4th (I think it's 4th). They also have great tomato bisque (we are a tomato bisque couple) and these blue cheese fries that are so amazing, I cannot emphasize enough how great these fries are...a MUST have! We thought that the food was terribly overpriced, but good enough to return for another visit. A while back, Dave took me on a lovely date to LA Prime. This is a steakhouse on top on the Westin Bonaventure Hotel and seems as though it's a well-kept secret. We had a ribeye and lobster with a bottle of wine. Our meal was tasty and the service (Vivki was our server) was over the top. The restaurant has an impressive view of the city and begs for a romantic dinner for two. After we sampled the creme brulee, we snuck down one level to the Bona Vista Lounge to enjoy a cocktail. If you want to see the city while boozin' and happen to be lazy (and don't mind the seedy music playing), this is the place. This bar actually rotates-yes it spins, though very slowly. I think we stayed long enough to almost make it once around. Don't know if I'd enjoy a second trip, but is worth at least a glimpse. Hopefully we will come back to LA Prime. Some other notable places include the Golden Gopher and Coles. The Golden Gopher, a bar on 8th Street, made a delivery of vodka to our house with a bag of ice the other evening. We had some friends over at the last minute, and had our party favors delivered in no time! Remarkable! Coles is the oldest continuously operating restaurant and saloon in Los Angeles which is fascinating to me. I don't think I've given Coles a fair chance, even though I stumble into it as I leave our building-it's located across the street from us. I need to make it a point to pay good ol' Cole's a visit!Category: General()
